The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) Alumni Affairs and Development Office (AADO) held the ‘EdUHK Alumni Reunion Dinner’ at its Tai Po Campus on 17 January 2025 (Friday), gathering nearly 80 alumni and guests from both mainland China and Hong Kong with University management and faculty.

In his welcome speech, Dr Fong highlighted the achievements of EdUHK in educational development, academic research, campus expansion, and enhancement of administrative services. He also expressed gratitude to the alumni associations and alumni for their unfailing support and love. “EdUHK nurtures generations of talented and virtuous teachers and professionals. This is thanks to not only to the effort of our faculty and students, but also to the continued support of our alumni,” he said.

During the dinner, Dr Fong presented certificates of appreciation to alumni associations, in recognition of their contributions, including Grantham College of Education Past Students’ Association Chairman Mr Lee Park-keong, Northcote College of Education Past Students’ Association Chairperson Dr Dennis Koo Hok-chun and Vice-chairperson Ms Lo Lai-yu, The Education University of Hong Kong Alumni Association Vice-chairperson Mr Lai Cheung-shan, The Education University of Hong Kong Mainland Alumni Association Mr Charles Cai Chan-yeung and The Hong Kong Institute of Education Alumni and Strings Ensemble Chairperson Ms Chan Ying-tim.

The dinner featured a variety of engaging musical performances, including a chamber music quartet performed by Ms Chan Ying-tim and her family. In addition, the notable erhu performer and alumnus Mr Zeng Qiujian, who serves as Secretary-General of The Education University of Hong Kong Mainland Alumni Association as well as Artistic Director and Head of the Hong Kong Cantonese Orchestra, also performed “An Adaptation of the Horse Racing Tune”. Their captivating musical performances created a harmonious atmosphere, demonstrating the deep friendship among the university alumni.

To help alumni gain greater insight into the latest developments at EdUHK, AADO arranged a guided tour at the Mong Man Wai Library, introducing the latest teaching support facilities. Additionally, the alumni visited the Hong Kong Museum of Education for the exhibition “Cultivating Souls and Enlightening Wisdom – An Exhibition of Textbooks for Primary and Secondary Schools”, to enhance their understanding of educational reforms and developments in mainland China.

The event also featured a student-sharing video, enabling guests and alumni to witness how students flourish with the University’s support, demonstrating the inheritance of education.

AADO regularly organises alumni activities to bring together alumni who graduated from different generations and colleges for exchange. Alumni are warmly invited to join the alumni associations to maintain close ties with their alma mater and to stay informed about and support the development of EdUHK.
